Indications
- Relieves migraine headache pain

Pharmacology
- Belongs to fenamate group
- Inhibitor of cyclooxygenase enzyme
- Inhibits synthesis of inflammatory mediators
- Acts on prostaglandin synthesis
- Direct antagonistic action on prostaglandin receptors
- Readily absorbed from GI tract
- Peak plasma concentration: 60-90 min
- Bioavailability: 85%
- Metabolized in the liver
- Excreted in urine and feces
Dosage & Administration
- 200 mg for acute migraine attacks
- 100-200 mg for mild to moderate pain
- Dose adjustment for renal impairment
- Not recommended for severe renal impairment
- Take with food
- Take with water during or immediately after meals
Interaction
- Increased absorption with Metoclopramide and Magnesium hydroxide
- Decreased absorption with Aluminium hydroxide
- Increased risk of bleeding with anticoagulants and other NSAIDs
- Decreased antihypertensive response to loop diuretics, B-blockers, and ACE Inhibitors
- Increased plasma concentration of Lithium, Methotrexate, and cardiac glycosides
- Increased risk of nephrotoxicity with ACE inhibitors, Ciclosporin, Tacrolimus, or diuretics
Contraindications
- Active gastrointestinal bleeding or ulceration
- History of gastrointestinal bleeding related to previous NSAID therapy
- History of gastrointestinal haemorrhage or perforation related to previous NSAID therapy
- History of recurrent gastrointestinal ulceration
- Severe heart failure

Overdose Effects
- Symptoms: headache, nausea, vomiting, epigastric pain, gastrointestinal bleeding, diarrhea, excitation, coma, drowsiness, dizziness, tinnitus, fainting, convulsions, acute renal failure, and liver damage
- Treatment should be symptomatic as required
