Indications

• Treatment of osteoarthritis
• Treatment of rheumatoid arthritis
• High risk of NSAID-induced gastric and duodenal ulcers

Pharmacology

• Contains Diclofenac Sodium
• Contains Misoprostol
• NSAID with analgesic properties
• Gastrointestinal mucosal protective prostaglandin E 1 analog
• Inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis
• Increase in bicarbonate and mucous production
• Prevention of gastric and duodenal ulcers

Dosage & Administration

• Dosage for osteoarthritis
• Dosage for rheumatoid arthritis
• Recommended dosage for maximal GI mucosal protection

Interaction

• Concomitant administration with aspirin
• Elevated digoxin levels
• Inhibition of antihypertensives
• Synergistic effects of warfarin and NSAIDs on GI bleeding
• Effects on oral hypoglycaemics
• Reduction in bioavailability of Misoprostol by antacids
• Inhibition of diuretics activity

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to Diclofenac
• Hypersensitivity to Misoprostol
• Hypersensitivity to other prostaglandins
• Asthma
• Urticaria
• Allergic-type reactions after taking aspirin or other NSAIDs

Side Effects

• Abdominal pain
• Diarrhea
• GI symptoms
• Profound diarrhea leading to severe dehydration

Pregnancy & Lactation

• Contraindicated in pregnant women
• Presence in the milk of nursing mothers
• Not recommended for use by nursing mothers

Precautions & Warnings

• Monitoring of dehydration in certain patients

Use in Special Populations

• Safety and effectiveness in paediatric patients not established
• No overall differences in safety or effectiveness observed between geriatric and younger subjects
• Elderly likely to tolerate adverse events less well
