Description
- Misoclo is indicated for treatment of the signs and symptoms of osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis in patients at high risk of developing NSAID-induced gastric and duodenal ulcers and their complications. It is a combination product containing Diclofenac Sodium, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) with analgesic properties, and Misoprostol, a gastrointestinal (GI) mucosal protective prostaglandin E 1 analog.

Contraindications

Side Effects
- Common reported side effects: abdominal pain, diarrhea, and other GI symptoms
- Rare instances of profound diarrhea leading to severe dehydration
Pregnancy and Lactation
- Contraindicated in pregnant women due to abortifacient property of Misoprostol
- Diclofenac Sodium found in the milk of nursing mothers
- Not recommended for use by nursing mothers
Precautions and Warnings
- Careful monitoring in patients with underlying conditions or dehydration
Use in Special Populations
- Safety and effectiveness in pediatric patients not established
- No overall differences in safety or effectiveness observed in geriatric use
- Greater sensitivity of some elderly persons cannot be ruled out
Overdose Effects
- Misoprostol overdose effects: convulsions, sedation, tremor, dyspnoea, diarrhea, abdominal pain, fever, palpitations, hypotension, bradycardia
- Diclofenac overdose effects: lethargy, drowsiness, nausea, vomiting, GI bleeding, HTN, acute renal failure, respiratory depression, anaphylactoid reactions, coma
