Indications

  • Treatment of osteoarthritis
  • Treatment of rheumatoid arthritis
  • High risk of developing NSAID-induced gastric and duodenal ulcers

Pharmacology

  • Contains Diclofenac Sodium and Misoprostol
  • NSAID with analgesic properties
  • GI mucosal protective prostaglandin E1 analog
  • Mechanism of action not completely understood

Dosage & Administration

  • Recommended dosage for osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis
  • Different dosages based on patient tolerance

Interaction

  • Contraindicated with aspirin
  • Potential interactions with digoxin, warfarin, oral hypoglycaemics, antacids, and diuretics

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to Diclofenac, Misoprostol, or other prostaglandins
  • Contraindicated in patients with asthma, urticaria, or allergic-type reactions to aspirin or other NSAIDs

Side Effects

  • Common side effects include abdominal pain, diarrhea, and other GI symptoms
  • Rare instances of severe dehydration reported

Pregnancy & Lactation

  • Contraindicated in pregnant women due to abortifacient property of Misoprostol
  • Not recommended for nursing mothers

Precautions & Warnings

  • Monitor carefully in patients with inflammatory bowel disease or dehydration
