Indications
- spasticity resulting from multiple sclerosis
- flexor spasms and concomitant pain
- clonus and muscular rigidity
- skeletal muscle spasm resulting from rheumatic disorders

- cerebrovascular accidents or neoplastic or degenerative brain disease
Pharmacology
- Inhibition of monosynaptic and polysynaptic reflexes
- Stimulation of GABA receptors
- Inhibition of release of glutamate and aspartate
- CNS depression
- Antinociceptive effect
Dosage & Administration
- 5 mg 3 times daily for adults & children over 10 years
- Gradually increased dosage
- Max. 100 mg daily
- Variable dosages for children under 10 years based on age
Interactions
- Increased sedation with CNS agents, alcohol, or synthetic opiates
- Potential fall in blood pressure with antihypertensives
- Potentiation of effects with tricyclic antidepressants
- Effects when combined with levodopa and carbidopa in Parkinson's disease
- Increased CNS depressant effects with MAO inhibitors
- Caution with magnesium sulphate or other neuromuscular blocking agents

- Hypersensitivity to any component of the product

- Cardiovascular effects such as hypotension

- Pregnancy category B3
- Potential benefits outweighing possible hazards
- Negligible excretion in breast milk
Precautions & Warnings
- Lower doses for impaired renal function or chronic haemodialysis
- Cautious treatment for patients with psychotic disorders, schizophrenia, depressive or manic disorders
- Use with caution in patients with epilepsy, peptic ulcers, or respiratory failure
- Monitoring of respiratory and cardiovascular function
- Careful use in patients with bladder dysfunction or stroke
- Appropriate lab tests for hepatic diseases or diabetes mellitus

- Gastric lavage for severe overdose
