Indications
- spasticity resulting from multiple sclerosis
- flexor spasms and concomitant pain, clonus and muscular rigidity
- skeletal muscle spasm resulting from rheumatic disorders
- spinal cord injuries and other spinal cord diseases
- cerebrovascular accidents or neoplastic or degenerative brain disease
Pharmacology
- inhibits monosynaptic and polysynaptic reflexes
- stimulates GABA receptors

Dosage & Administration
- recommended dosage for adults and children over 10 years
- gradual increase in dosage
- max daily dosage for adults
- treatment initiation for children < 10 years

Interaction
- increased sedation with CNS agents, alcohol, or synthetic opiates
- interaction with antihypertensives
- potentiation with tricyclic antidepressants
- interaction with levodopa and carbidopa in Parkinson's disease
- caution with MAO inhibitors
- interaction with magnesium sulphate or neuromuscular blocking agents
Contraindications
- hypersensitivity to any component of the product

- caution in patients with peptic ulcers, cerebrovascular diseases, or organ failure
- monitoring of respiratory and cardiovascular function
- neurogenic disturbances affecting bladder emptying
- limited benefit in stroke patients
- appropriate laboratory tests in patients with hepatic diseases or diabetes
