Pharmacological Action

- May cause sedation and respiratory depression when taken with CNS agents, alcohol, or synthetic opiates
Interaction with Antihypertensives
- Likely to increase blood pressure fall, requiring dosage adjustment of antihypertensive medication
Adverse Reactions
- Transient drowsiness, daytime sedation, dizziness, weakness, fatigue, headache, insomnia, euphoria, depression, confusion, hypotension, nausea, constipation, urinary frequency, rash, pruritus, weight gain, visual disturbances, hepatic function disorders, paradoxical increase in spasticity
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to any component of the product

- Pregnancy category B3, crosses the placental barrier, excreted in breast milk in small quantities
Precautions & Warnings
- Lower doses for patients with impaired renal function, caution in patients with psychotic disorders, epilepsy, ulcers, cerebrovascular diseases, or hepatic, renal, or respiratory failure, careful monitoring of respiratory and cardiovascular function, caution in patients with bladder emptying disturbances, poor tolerance in stroke patients
