Indications

Pharmacology
- Alkylamine antihistamine
- Histamine H1-receptor blocking agent
- Potent antihistamine
- Less sedation than promethazine
- Competitive H1-receptor blocker
Dosage & Administration
- Usual adult dose: 4 mg every 4-6 hours
- Maximum adult dose: 24 mg daily
- Child dose (6-12 years): 2 mg every 4-6 hours
- Maximum child dose (6-12 years): 12 mg daily
- Child dose (2-5 years): 1 mg every 4-6 hours
- Maximum child dose (2-5 years): 6 mg daily
- Child dose (1-2 years): 1 mg twice daily
- Not recommended below 1 year
Interaction
- Incompatible with calcium chloride
- Incompatible with kanamycin sulfate
- Incompatible with noradrenaline acid tartrate
- Incompatible with pentobarbital sodium
- Incompatible with meglumine adipiodone
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to chlorpheniramine
- Not for newborn or premature infants
