Indications
- Relief of symptoms associated with seasonal & perennial allergic rhinitis
- Treatment of uncomplicated skin manifestations of chronic idiopathic urticaria
- Treatment of allergen induced asthma
Pharmacology
- Potent H1 receptor antagonist
- No significant anticholinergic and antiserotonic effects
- Inhibition of histamine-mediated early phase of allergic reaction
- Reduction in migration of inflammatory cells and release of mediators associated with late phase of allergic reaction
Dosage & Administration
- Dosage for adults, children 6 years and older, and children 2-6 years
- Dosage for children 6 months to 2 years
- Recommended dosage for injectable form in adults, adolescents, and children 6 months to 11 years
Interaction
- No clinically significant drug interactions with Theophylline, Azithromycin, Pseudoephedrine, Ketoconazole, or Erythromycin
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to Cetirizine or hydroxyzine
Side Effects
- Common side effects include somnolence
