  • Excretion: Eliminated primarily in bile

DosageAndAdministration

  • Adults: Usually 10 mg once daily; maximum 80 mg once daily
  • Children (10-18 years): Initially 10 mg once daily, increased if necessary to max. 20 mg once daily
  • SpecialCases:
    • Patients requiring a large reduction in LDL-C may be started at 40 mg once daily
    • Dosage range: 10 to 80 mg once daily

DrugInteractions

  • Concurrent administration with cyclosporine, fibric acid derivatives, niacin, erythromycin, azole antifungals
  • Interaction with antacid, colestipol, digoxin, oral contraceptives, warfarin

  • Hypersensitivity to any component of the medication
  • Active liver disease or unexplained persistent elevations of serum transaminases
  • History of serious adverse reaction to prior administration of HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors
