Indications
- Relief of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis symptoms
- Treatment of skin manifestations of chronic idiopathic urticaria
- Treatment of allergen-induced asthma
Pharmacology
- H1 receptor antagonist
- No significant anticholinergic or antiserotonic effects
- Inhibits histamine-mediated allergic reactions
- Reduces migration of inflammatory cells
- Reduces release of mediators
- Peak plasma concentration of 257 mcg/L within one hour of administration
- Plasma half-life of approximately 11 hours
- Consistent absorption from one subject to the next
Dosage & Administration
- Adult dosage of 10mg daily
- Children dosage based on age and weight
- Single use injectable product for intravenous administration only
- Different dosage for adults, adolescents, and children based on age and symptom severity
Interaction
- No clinically significant drug interactions with Theophylline, Azithromycin, Pseudoephedrine, Ketoconazole, or Erythromycin
Contraindications
- History of hypersensitivity to Cetirizine or hydroxyzine
