Indications
- Relief of symptoms associated with seasonal allergic rhinitis
- Relief of symptoms associated with perennial allergic rhinitis
- Treatment of uncomplicated skin manifestations of chronic idiopathic urticaria
- Treatment of allergen induced asthma
Pharmacology
- Cetirizine Hydrochloride is a potent H1 receptor antagonist
- Does not cause significant anticholinergic and antiserotonic effects
- Inhibits histamine-mediated early phase of allergic reaction
- Reduces migration of inflammatory cells
- Reduces release of mediators associated with late phase of allergic reaction
- Peak plasma concentration achieved by Cetirizine 10mg
- Plasma half-life of approximately 11 hours
Dosage & Administration
- Dosage form: oral tablets and teaspoonfuls
- Different dosage for adults, children 2-6 years, and children 6 months to 2 years
- Recommended dosage regimen for injectable form
- Different dosage for adults, adolescents, and children 6 months to 11 years for injectable form

- No clinically significant drug interactions with Theophylline
- No clinically significant drug interactions with Azithromycin
- No clinically significant drug interactions with Pseudoephedrine

Contraindications
- Contraindicated in patients with history of hypersensitivity to Cetirizine
- Contraindicated in patients with history of hypersensitivity to hydroxyzine

- No adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women

Use in Special Populations
- Reduced clearance and increased AUC in patients with mild to moderate hepatic and renal impairment
