Indications
- Relief of symptoms associated with seasonal & perennial allergic rhinitis
- Treatment of the uncomplicated skin manifestations of chronic idiopathic urticaria
- Treatment of allergen induced asthma
Pharmacology
- Potent H1 receptor antagonist
- No significant anticholinergic and antiserotonic effects
- Inhibition of histamine-mediated early phase of allergic reaction
- Reduction of migration of inflammatory cells
- Reduction of release of mediators associated with late phase of allergic reaction
- Peak plasma concentration of Cetirizine 10 mg
- Plasma half-life of approximately 11 hours
Dosage & Administration
- Dosage form: Cetirizine oral and injectable
- Different dosage regimens for adults and children
- Intravenous administration for injectable dosage form
Interaction
- No clinically significant drug interactions with Theophylline, Azithromycin, Pseudoephedrine, Ketoconazole, or Erythromycin
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to Cetirizine or hydroxyzine
