Indications
- Relief of symptoms associated with seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis
- Relief of symptoms associated with chronic idiopathic urticaria
- Improves health-related quality of life and work/activity productivity
Pharmacology
- Histamine receptor mediation
- Degranulation of mast cells and basophils
- Release of histamine and inflammatory mediators
- Binding and activation of H1 receptors
- Release of pro-inflammatory cytokines
- Allergic symptoms such as pruritus, rhinorrhea, and watery eyes
Dosage & Administration
- Adult dosage: 60 mg twice daily or 120 mg once daily or 180 mg once daily
- Children 6 to 11 years: 30 mg twice daily or 60 mg once daily
- Suspension: 30 mg or 5 ml twice daily for children 2 to 11 years
Interaction
- No hepatic biotransformation
- Increased level of fexofenadine with erythromycin or ketoconazole
- No interaction with omeprazole
- Reduction in bioavailability with antacids containing aluminium and magnesium hydroxide
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to Fexofenadine Hydrochloride or any of its ingredients
