Indications
- Relief of symptoms associated with allergic rhinitis
- Treatment of chronic idiopathic urticaria
Pharmacology
Fexofenadine is an 'inverse agonist' of the H1 receptor, preventing activation and downstream effects. Potent and selective affinity for H1 receptors. Does not cross the blood-brain barrier.
Dosage and Administration
- Adults and children 12 years and older: 60 mg, 120 mg, or 180 mg once or twice daily depending on condition
- Children from 6 months to 11 years: Dosage varies based on age and renal function
Interaction
Interacts with erythromycin, ketoconazole, and antacids; does not interact with omeprazole
Contraindications
Known hypersensitivity to Fexofenadine Hydrochloride or any of its ingredients
