Indications
- Relief of symptoms associated with seasonal allergic rhinitis in adults and children 12 years of age and over
- Relief of symptoms associated with perennial allergic rhinitis in adults and children 12 years of age and over

Pharmacology
- H1 histamine receptor mediation
- Inhibition of degranulation of mast cells and basophils
- Blockage of histamine release and other inflammatory mediators
- Prevention of activation and downstream effects of H1 receptors
- Potent and selective affinity for H1 receptors
- No evidence of carrying antidopaminergic, antiserotonergic, anticholinergic, sedative, or adrenergic blocking activity
- Does not cross the blood-brain barrier
Dosage & Administration
- 60 mg tablet dosage for adults and children 12 years and older
- 120 mg tablet dosage for adults and children 12 years and older
- 180 mg tablet dosage for adults and children 12 years and older
- 30 mg tablet dosage for children from 6 to 11 years
- 30 mg or 5 ml suspension dosage for children from 2 to 11 years
- 15 mg or 2.5 ml suspension dosage for children from 6 months to less than 2 years
- Recommended starting dose of 60 mg once daily for patients with decreased renal function
Interaction
- No hepatic biotransformation
- Coadministration with erythromycin or ketoconazole may increase fexofenadine level in plasma
- No interaction observed between fexofenadine and omeprazole
- Reduction in bioavailability when coadministered with antacids containing aluminium and magnesium hydroxide
- Advisable to leave 2 hours between administration of fexofenadine and antacids

- Known hypersensitivity to Fexofenadine Hydrochloride or any of its ingredients

Precautions & Warnings
- Administration with care in older people and renally or hepatically impaired patients
- Patients with history of or ongoing cardiovascular disease should be warned
- Unlikely to produce significant effects on the ability to drive or use machines
Use in Special Populations
- Altered pharmacokinetics in individuals with renal impairment
- No substantial effect on pharmacokinetics in individuals with moderate to severe hepatic disease
- Adverse events similar in elderly patients compared to patients under 65 years of age
Overdose Effects
