Indications
- Relief of symptoms associated with seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis
- Relief of symptoms associated with chronic idiopathic urticaria
Pharmacology
- Fexofenadine is an inverse agonist of the H1 receptor
- Potent and selective affinity for H1 receptors
- No evidence of antidopaminergic, antiserotonergic, or anticholinergic activity
- Does not cross the blood-brain barrier
Dosage & Administration
- Recommended dosages for adults and children 12 years and older
- Different dosage regimen in case of impaired renal function
- Different dosage regimen for children from 2 to 11 years
Interaction
- No hepatic biotransformation
- Increased level of fexofenadine when coadministered with erythromycin or ketoconazole
- No interaction with omeprazole
- Reduction in bioavailability when administered with antacids containing aluminium and magnesium hydroxide
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Fexofenadine Hydrochloride or any of its ingredients
