Indications

Pharmacology
- H1 histamine receptor mediation
- Degranulation of mast cells and basophils
- Release of histamine and other inflammatory mediators
- Binding to inactive form of H1 receptor by fexofenadine
- Selective affinity for H1 receptors
Dosage & Administration
- Dosage for adults and children 12 years and older
- Dosing adjustments in case of impaired renal function
Interaction
- No hepatic biotransformation
- Interaction with erythromycin and ketoconazole
- No interaction with omeprazole
- Reduced bioavailability with aluminium and magnesium hydroxide containing antacids
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to Fexofenadine Hydrochloride or any of its ingredients
Side Effects
- Common: headache, drowsiness, dizziness, nausea
- Uncommon: fatigue, hypersensitivity reactions, insomnia
- Rare: tachycardia, palpitations, diarrhea, rash, urticaria
- Pruritus
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Limited data on use in pregnant women
- Avoid use unless clearly necessary
- Potential transfer into human breast milk

- Limited data in elderly, renally or hepatically impaired patients
