Indications
- Relief of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis symptoms

Pharmacology
- Responsible for mediating hypersensitivity and allergic reactions
- Fexofenadine is an inverse agonist of the H1 receptor
- Potent and selective affinity for H1 receptors
- Does not cross the blood-brain barrier
Dosage & Administration
- Adult dosage range: 60-180 mg once or twice daily
- Children dosage range: 30-60 mg once or twice daily
- Adjusted dosage in case of impaired renal function
Interaction
- Enhanced levels with coadministration of erythromycin or ketoconazole
- No interaction with omeprazole
- Reduction in bioavailability with antacids
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to Fexofenadine Hydrochloride or any of its ingredients
Side Effects
- Common: headache, drowsiness, dizziness, nausea
- Uncommon: fatigue, insomnia, diarrhea, rash, urticaria
- Rare: tachycardia, palpitations, hypersensitivity reactions
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Limited data in pregnant women
- Not recommended for breastfeeding mothers
- No human data on the effect on fertility
Precautions & Warnings
- Limited data in older people and renally/hepatically impaired patients
- Care needed in patients with ongoing cardiovascular disease
- Unlikely to produce significant effects on driving or machine usage
