Indications

  • Relief of symptoms associated with allergic rhinitis in adults and children
  • Relief of symptoms associated with chronic idiopathic urticaria in adults and children

Pharmacology

  • H1 histamine receptor mediation
  • Exposure to allergen and degranulation of mast cells and basophils
  • Histamine binding and activation of H1 receptors
  • Fexofenadine as an inverse agonist of H1 receptor
  • Potent and selective affinity for H1 receptors
  • No significant CNS effects

Dosage & Administration

  • Different dosages for allergic rhinitis and chronic idiopathic urticaria in adults and children of varying age groups
  • Adjustment of dosage in case of impaired renal function

Interaction

  • Potential interaction with erythromycin, ketoconazole, and antacids containing aluminium and magnesium hydroxide
  • No interaction with omeprazole

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to Fexofenadine Hydrochloride or its ingredients

  • Frequency-based undesirable effects in adults reported in clinical trials and post-marketing surveillance
