Indications
- perennial allergic rhinitis
- seasonal allergic rhinitis

Pharmacology
- Contains Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride
- Levocetirizine is the active (Levo) isomer of cetirizine
- Nonsedating antihistamine with potent antiallergic properties
- Rapid and long-acting action
Dosage & Administration
- Adult dose: 5 mg once daily
- Children 6-11 years: 2.5 mg once daily
- Children 6 months to 5 years: 1.25 mg once daily
- Geriatric use not fully studied
- No dosage adjustment in hepatic impairment
- Renal impairment dosages: 2.5 mg once daily (mild), 2.5 mg once every other day (moderate), 2.5 mg twice weekly (severe), Avoid in end-stage renal disease
- Pediatric use based on adult efficacy
Interaction
- No known interactions with other drugs
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to levocetirizine, cetirizine or hydroxyzine
- Severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance: <10 ml/min)
Side Effects
- Well-tolerated, rare reports of headache, dry mouth, fatigue, and skin rash
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Category B for pregnancy

- Excreted in breast milk, not recommended for nursing mothers
