Indications
- Perennial allergic rhinitis
- Seasonal allergic rhinitis
- Chronic idiopathic urticaria
Pharmacology
- Contains Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride
- Non-sedating antihistamine
- Has two-fold higher affinity for H1 receptors than cetirizine
- Rapid and long-acting action
Dosage & Administration
- Adult dose: 5 mg once daily
- Children 6-11 years: 2.5 mg once daily
- Children 6 months-5 years: 1.25 mg once daily
- Geriatric use not well studied
Pediatric use
Dosage based on extrapolation of efficacy from adults
Hepatic impairment
No dosage adjustment required
Renal impairment
- Mild impairment: 2.5 mg once daily
- Moderate impairment: 2.5 mg once every other day
- Severe impairment: 2.5 mg twice weekly
- End-stage renal disease: Not recommended

Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to levocetirizine
- Severe renal impairment
Side Effects
- Well tolerated
- Rarely reported: headache, dry mouth, fatigue, skin rash
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Category B
- Use during pregnancy only if clearly needed
- Not recommended for nursing mothers due to excretion in breast milk
