Indications
- perennial allergic rhinitis

Pharmacology
- Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride
- nonsedating antihistamine
- potent antiallergic properties
- high affinity for H1 receptors
- rapid and long-acting action
Dosage & Administration
- 5 mg dose for adults and children 12 years and older
- 2.5 mg dose for children 6 to 11 years of age
- 1.25 mg dose for children 6 months to 5 years of age
- pediatric use based on extrapolation of efficacy from adults
- no dosage adjustment required in solely hepatic impairment
- dose adjustments for mild, moderate, and severe renal impairment

No known interactions with other drugs
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to levocetirizine, cetirizine or hydroxyzine
- severe renal impairment
Side Effects
- rare incidence of headache, dry mouth, fatigue, and skin rash

- Pregnancy Category B
- use during pregnancy only if clearly needed
- not recommended for use by nursing mothers
