Description
LVC is a non-sedating antihistamine indicated for the treatment of symptoms associated with allergic conditions such as perennial and seasonal allergic rhinitis, chronic idiopathic urticaria. It contains Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride, the active (Levo) isomer of cetirizine, with potent antiallergic properties and a rapid, long-acting action. It is available in dosages suitable for adults, children, and patients with renal impairment, and should be stored at a temperature not exceeding 30°C.

Pharmacology
Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride, highly effective and well-tolerated non-sedating antihistamine with potent antiallergic properties, two-fold higher affinity for H1 receptors than cetirizine, rapid and long-acting action, once-a-day administration
Dosage & Administration
- Adults and children 12 years of age and older: 5 mg once daily
- Children 6 to 11 years of age: 2.5 mg (½ tablet or 1 teaspoon oral solution) once daily
- Children 6 months to 5 years of age: 1.25 mg (½ teaspoon oral solution) once daily
- Pediatric use: Dosage extrapolated from adult efficacy
- Geriatric use: Insufficient data for age-related dosage adjustments
- Hepatic impairment: No dosage adjustment required
- Renal impairment:
- Mild (creatinine clearance: 50-80 ml/min): 2.5 mg once daily
- Moderate (creatinine clearance: 30-50 ml/min): 2.5 mg once every other day
- Severe (creatinine clearance: 10-30 ml/min): 2.5 mg twice weekly
- End-stage renal disease & patients undergoing hemodialysis: Not recommended

Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to levocetirizine, cetirizine, or hydroxyzine; Severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance: <10 ml/min)
