Indications
- Treatment of perennial allergic rhinitis
- Treatment of seasonal allergic rhinitis
- Treatment of chronic idiopathic urticaria
Pharmacology
- Active ingredient: Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride
- Levocetirizine is the active (Levo) isomer of cetirizine
- Highly effective nonsedating antihistamine
- Potent antiallergic properties
- Two-fold higher affinity for H1 receptors than cetirizine
- Rapid and long-acting action
- Once-a-day administration
Dosage & Administration
- Recommended dose for adults and children 12 years and older: 5 mg once daily
- Recommended dose for children 6 to 11 years: 2.5 mg once daily
- Recommended dose for children 6 months to 5 years: 1.25 mg once daily
- Pediatric use based on efficacy extrapolation from adults
- No dosage adjustment required for hepatic impairment
- Renal impairment dosage recommendations

No known interactions with other drugs
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to levocetirizine, cetirizine, or hydroxyzine
- Severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance: <10 ml/min)
Side Effects
- Rarely reported side effects include: headache, dry mouth, fatigue, skin rash

- Pregnancy Category B
- Use during pregnancy only if clearly needed
- Not recommended for use during lactation
