Description
- Seasonix is indicated in the treatment of symptoms associated with allergic conditions such as perennial allergic rhinitis, seasonal allergic rhinitis, chronic idiopathic urticaria. It contains Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride, the active isomer of cetirizine, and is a non-sedating antihistamine with potent antiallergic properties.

Pharmacology
- Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride
- Nonsedating antihistamine
- Potent antiallergic properties
- Higher affinity for H1 receptors than cetirizine
- Rapid and long-acting action
Dosage & Administration
- Adult dose: 5 mg once daily
- Children 6-11 years: 2.5 mg once daily
- Children 6 months-5 years: 1.25 mg once daily
- Pediatric use based on adult efficacy
- No dosage adjustment for hepatic impairment
- Renal impairment dosages based on creatinine clearance levels
- Geriatric use not extensively studied
- Not recommended for patients with severe renal impairment or undergoing hemodialysis
Interaction
- Not known to have interactions with other drugs
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to levocetirizine, cetirizine, or hydroxyzine
- Severe renal impairment
Side Effects
- Well tolerated, with rare reports of headache, dry mouth, fatigue, and skin rash
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Pregnancy Category B
- Use during pregnancy only if clearly needed
- Not recommended for nursing mothers due to excretion in breast milk
Precautions & Warnings
- Epileptic patients and patients at risk of convulsions should use with caution
- Patients with renal impairment should use with caution
- Use during pregnancy and lactation should be carefully considered
Overdose Effects
- No clinically relevant adverse events reported in case of overdose
- Symptomatic and supportive treatment recommended in the event of overdosage
