Indications

• Relief from seasonal allergic rhinitis
• Relief from perennial allergic rhinitis
• Relief from skin allergies
• Alleviates symptoms of allergic rhinitis
• Relief from chronic urticaria
• Symptomatic relief of sneezing
• Symptomatic relief of nasal discharge
• Symptomatic relief of itching
• Symptomatic relief of ocular itching
• Symptomatic relief of ocular burning

Pharmacology

• Contains Loratadine
• Non-sedative histamine H1 receptor antagonist
• Antiallergic properties
• Long-acting tricyclic antihistamine
• Selective peripheral H1-receptor antagonistic activity
• No central sedative or anticholinergic effect
• Rapid and long-lasting effectiveness
• Once-a-day administration

Dosage & Administration

• Adult dosage: One tablet daily
• Administered in the morning
• Children dosage based on age and body weight
• Not recommended for children below 2 years

Interaction

• No hazardous interactions reported
• No potentiating effects with alcohol
• Potential elevation of plasma concentrations with certain drugs
• Inhibitory effects on hepatic cytochromes P450 3A4 and 2D6
• Increased serum concentrations with specific drugs

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to components

• Comparable incidence of adverse events to placebo
• No significant sedation observed during clinical studies
• Comparable effect on driving performance to placebo

Pregnancy & Lactation

• Not advisable during pregnancy
• Excreted in breast milk in small amounts
• Nursing mothers advised against taking the drug

Precautions & Warnings

• Caution in patients with liver impairment or renal insufficiency

Overdose Effects

• Reported effects of overdose in adults and children
• Symptomatic and supportive measures should be instituted in case of overdose
• Use of oral activated charcoal may be considered
• Inducing vomiting or gastric lavage in conscious patients may be performed
