Indications
- Fast relief from seasonal allergic rhinitis

Pharmacology
- Preparation of Loratadine

Dosage & Administration
- Adult dosage: One tablet daily
- Morning administration recommended
- Children dosage based on body weight
- Safety and efficacy not established for children under 2 years
Interaction
- No reports of potentially hazardous interactions with other drugs
- No potentiating effects with alcohol
- Concomitant therapy caution with hepatic cytochromes P450 3A4 and 2D6
- Cimetidine inhibits both enzymes
- Erythromycin or ketoconazole inhibits P450 3A4
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity or idiosyncrasy to components
Side Effects
- Comparable adverse event incidence to placebo
- Comparable to placebo in driving performance and cognitive functioning
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Not advisable during human pregnancy
- Excreted in breast milk in a very small amount
- Nursing mothers advised not to take the drug
Precautions & Warnings
- Caution in patients with liver impairment or renal insufficiency (eGFR <30 ml/min)
Overdose Effects
- Reported effects in adults and children with overdose
- Symptomatic and supportive measures recommended for overdosage
- Prompt instituting and maintenance of measures necessary
- Consideration of oral activated charcoal for large overdoses
