Description
- Encilor tablet provides fast, effective relief from the symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis, perennial allergic rhinitis, and skin allergies including chronic urticaria. It is also effective in alleviating symptoms of allergic rhinitis such as sneezing, nasal discharge, itching, ocular itching, and burning. Nasal and ocular sign and symptoms are relieved rapidly after oral administration.
Indications
- Fast relief from seasonal allergic rhinitis
- Fast relief from perennial allergic rhinitis
- Fast relief from skin allergies including chronic urticaria
- Alleviates symptoms of allergic rhinitis such as sneezing, nasal discharge, itching, and ocular itching
- Indicated for idiopathic urticaria
- Symptomatic relief for children over 2 years with seasonal allergic rhinitis and allergic skin conditions
Mode of Action
- Non-sedative histamine H1 receptor antagonist with antiallergic properties
- Long-acting tricyclic antihistamine with selective peripheral H1-receptor antagonistic activity
- Rapidly effective and long-lasting, allowing once-a-day administration
Dosage & Administration
- Adults and children over 12 years: One tablet once daily in the morning or when symptoms require treatment
- Children 2-12 years: Body weight over 30 kg: one tablet once daily, below 30 kg: half tablet once daily
- Not recommended for use below 2 years of age
Interaction
- No reports of potentially hazardous interactions with other drugs
- No potentiating effects when administered concurrently with alcohol
- Concomitant therapy with drugs that inhibit or are metabolized by hepatic cytochromes P450 3A4 and 2D6 may elevate plasma concentrations of either drug and result in adverse effects
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity or idiosyncrasy to the components
Side Effects
- Incidence of adverse events observed was comparable to that observed with placebo during controlled clinical studies
- Comparable effect to placebo on actual driving performance, cognitive and psychomotor functioning
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Not advisable during pregnancy due to lack of experience in human pregnancy
- Excreted in breast milk in a very small amount, nursing mothers are advised not to take the drug
Precautions & Warnings
- Caution in patients with liver impairment or renal insufficiency (eGFR < 30 ml/min)
Overdose Effects
- In adults: somnolence, tachycardia, and headache reported with overdose greater than 10 mg
- In children: extrapyramidal signs and palpitations reported with overdoses of greater than 10 mg
- Prompt general symptomatic and supportive measures should be instituted in the event of overdosage
- Oral activated charcoal may be administered in patients presenting early after large overdoses
