Indications

Pharmacology
- contains Loratadine

Dosage & Administration
- one Loratadine tablet once daily for adults and children over 12 years
- morning administration recommended
- half tablet once daily for children aged 2-12 (below 30 kg)
- not recommended for children below 2 years
Interaction
- no hazardous interactions with other drugs reported
- no potentiating effects with alcohol
- potential elevation of plasma concentrations with certain drugs
- cimetidine inhibits hepatic cytochromes P450 3A4 and 2D6
- erythromycin or ketoconazole inhibits P450 3A4
Contraindications
- hypersensitivity or idiosyncrasy to components
Side Effects
- comparable incidence of adverse events to placebo
- comparable effect to placebo on driving performance and cognitive functions
Pregnancy & Lactation
- not advisable during pregnancy
- excreted in breast milk in very small amounts
- nursing mothers advised not to take the drug
Precautions & Warnings
- caution in patients with liver impairment
- caution in patients with renal insufficiency (eGFR < 30 ml/min)
Overdose Effects
- reported effects in adults: somnolence, tachycardia, headache
- reported effects in children: extrapyramidal signs, palpitations
- prompt institution of symptomatic and supportive measures recommended
