Indications
- Relief of symptoms associated with seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis
- Relief of symptoms associated with chronic idiopathic urticaria
Pharmacology
- Desloratadine is a non-sedating; long acting tricyclic histamine antagonist
- Selective H1-receptor histamine antagonist activity
- Inhibition of histamine release from human mast cell
Dosage & Administration
- Pediatric drops dosage for different age groups
- Syrup dosage for different age groups
- Tablet dosage for adults and children over 12 years
Interaction
- No clinically relevant drug interactions reported
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to medication or its ingredients
- Contraindicated for patients with hypersensitivity to Loratadine
Side Effects
- Less common side effects including headache, nausea, fatigue, dizziness, pharyngitis, dyspepsia, and myalgia
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Pregnancy Category C
- Safety during pregnancy not established
- Passes into breast milk, decision to discontinue nursing or medication usage should be made
