Indications
- Relief of symptoms associated with seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis
- Relief of symptoms associated with chronic idiopathic urticaria
Pharmacology
- Desloratadine is the major active metabolite of Loratadine
- Non-sedating, long-acting tricyclic histamine antagonist
- Selective H1-receptor histamine antagonist activity
- Inhibits histamine release from human mast cell
Dosage & Administration
- Pediatric drops for children 6-11 months of age: 2 ml drops once daily
- Pediatric drops for children 1-2 years of age: 2.5 ml drops once daily
- Syrup for children 6-11 months of age: 2 ml once daily
- Syrup for children 1-5 years of age: 2.5 ml once daily
- Syrup for children 6-11 years of age: 5 ml once daily
- Syrup for Adults & >12 years of age: 10 ml once daily
- Tablet for Adults and children 12 years of age and over: 1 tablet daily

Contraindications
Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to the medication or its ingredients

Pregnancy & Lactation
Pregnancy Category C. Safe use during pregnancy not established. Should not be used during pregnancy unless clearly indicated. Passes into breast milk.
Precautions & Warnings
- A starting dose of one 5 mg tablet every other day recommended for adult patients with liver or renal impairment
- Consideration for patients with medical or familial history of seizures
