Indications
- Symptomatic treatment of Seasonal Allergic Rhinitis
- Symptomatic treatment of Perennial Allergic Rhinitis
- Symptomatic treatment of Urticaria
Pharmacology
- Long-acting non-sedative antagonist of histamine H1-receptors
- Antagonizes platelet activating factor (PAF)
- Dual mode of action for better therapeutic effect
Dosage & Administration
- Recommended dose of 10 mg once a day for adults and adolescents over 12 years
- Different dosages for children based on weight
Interaction
- Caution with concomitant use of ketoconazole or erythromycin
- Caution with statins, CNS depressants, and alcohol
- Avoid grapefruit and grapefruit juice
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Rupatadine or any excipients
Side Effects
- Common: dizziness, drowsiness
- Uncommon: appetite increased, back pain
- Rare: palpitations, tachycardia
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Use not recommended during pregnancy unless benefits outweigh risks
- Use not recommended during lactation
Precautions & Warnings
- Use with caution in patients with known QT interval prolongation
- Use with caution in elderly patients
- Not recommended in patients with impaired kidney or liver function

- Safety and efficacy not established in patients less than 12 years old
- Use not recommended in patients with renal or hepatic insufficiency
