Description
Stacor 10 mg Tablet is a medication used to reduce elevated total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, apolipoprotein B (Apo-B), and triglycerides levels in various diseases. It works as a selective inhibitor of HMG-CoA reductase to lower plasma cholesterol and lipoprotein levels
DoseageAndAdministration
- Adult dosing: 10-80 mg once daily
- Child dosing: 10-20 mg once daily
- Initial dosing for familial hypercholesterolaemia: 10 mg daily, may be increased to 40-80 mg once daily
Absorption
Rapidly absorbed after oral administration, reaches maximum plasma concentrations within 1-2 hours.
Distribution
Mean volume of distribution is approximately 381 liters, 98% bound to plasma proteins.
Metabolism
Extensively metabolized to ortho- and parahydroxylated derivatives and various beta-oxidation products.
Excretion
Eliminated primarily in bile following hepatic and/or extra-hepatic metabolism, with a mean plasma elimination half-life of approximately 14 hours.
Interaction
- Increased risk of myopathy with concurrent administration of specific drugs
- Plasma concentrations affected by coadministration with antacid, colestipol, digoxin, erythromycin, oral contraceptives, and warfarin.
