Indications
- Topical treatment of impetigo
- Treatment of folliculitis
- Treatment of furunculosis
Pharmacology
- Mupirocin is a naturally occurring antibiotic
- Produced by fermentation using Pseudomonas fluorescens
- Active against Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes
- Inhibits bacterial protein synthesis
Dosage & Administration
- Apply to affected area 3 times daily for up to 10 days
- Safety and effectiveness established in age range of 2 months to 16 years

Contraindications
- Contraindicated in individuals with hypersensitivity to Mupirocin

- Prolonged use may result in overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms
- Avoid contact with eyes
- Not suitable for use with cannulae or at the site of central venous cannulation
- Discontinue usage in case of sensitization or severe local irritation
