Description
Tigilow is indicated as an adjunct to diet to reduce elevated total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, apolipoprotein B (Apo-B) and triglycerides levels. It is also used to reduce cardiac ischaemic events and for the treatment of patients with dysbetalipoproteinaemia.

- 10 mg once daily for adults
- 10 mg once daily for children (10-18 years)
- Mode of Action: Selective inhibitor of HMG-CoA reductase
- Absorption: Rapidly absorbed after oral administration
- Distribution: Mean volume of distribution is approximately 381 liters
- Metabolism: Extensively metabolized to ortho- and parahydroxylated derivatives
- Excretion: Primarily eliminated in bile following hepatic and/or extra-hepatic metabolism
- Interaction:
- Increased risk of myopathy with concurrent administration of cyclosporine
- Plasma concentrations decreased approximately 35% when coadministered with antacid suspension
- Contraindications:
- Hypersensitivity to any component of the medication
- Active liver disease or unexplained persistent elevations of serum transaminases
