Description
- Broad-spectrum antifungal cream
- Active against dermatophytes, yeasts, moulds, and bacteroids
- Also active against certain gram-positive bacteria
Indications
- Treatment of dermatomycoses (e.g. athlete's foot), yeasts (Candida species), moulds, and skin diseases showing superinfections with fungi
Pharmacology
- Damages permeability barrier in fungal cell membranes
- Inhibition of ergosterol biosynthesis
- Inhibition of lanosterol 14-demethylase (CYP51)
- Depletion of intracellular calcium
- Blocking of calcium-dependent potassium channels and voltage-dependent calcium channels
Dosage and administration
- Apply thinly 2-3 times daily
- Duration varies based on the extent and localization of the disease
- Recommended duration of treatment for different conditions
