Description
Broad-spectrum antifungal agent for dermal infections caused by dermatophytes, yeasts, moulds, and bacteroids. Active against gram-positive bacteria, especially Staphylococci and Tricomonas. Alters permeability of fungal cell walls by interfering with cell wall lipids. Inhibits ergosterol synthesis and causes membrane damage unrelated to sterol synthesis.
Pharmacology
- Damages permeability barrier in fungal cell membrane
- Inhibits ergosterol biosynthesis
- Inhibition of lanosterol 14-demethylase (CYP51)
- Inhibits sarcoplasmic reticulum Ca^2+ ATPase
- Depletes intracellular calcium
- Blocks calcium-dependent potassium channels
- Blocks voltage-dependent calcium channels
Dosage & Administration
- Thinly apply 2-3 times daily
