Indications
- Reduction of total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol in familial hypercholesterolaemia
- Reduction of elevated cholesterol and triglycerides in mixed dyslipidemia
- Treatment of hypertriglyceridaemia and dysbetalipoproteinaemia
- Reduction of cardiac ischaemic events in coronary artery disease
- Management of hypercholesterolemia associated with diabetes mellitus or renal transplantation

DosageAndAdministration
- Adults: Usually 10 mg once daily; may be increased to max. 80 mg once daily if necessary
- Children (10-18 years): Initially 10 mg once daily, increased if necessary to usual max. 20 mg once daily
Interactions
- Increased risk of myopathy with concurrent administration of cyclosporine, fibric acid derivatives, niacin, erythromycin, azole antifungals
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to any component of this medication
- Active liver disease or unexplained persistent elevations of serum transaminases
- History of serious adverse reaction to prior administration of HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors
