Indications
- Scabies
- Pediculosis pubis
- Pediculosis capitis
Pharmacology
- Toxic to scabies and pediculosis parasites
- Kills sarcoptes mite in 5 minutes
- Mechanism of action uncertain
- Thought to act on the nervous system of the parasite
Dosage & Administration
- Applied to whole body after hot bath for scabies
- Possibility of failure lessened by second application within 5 days
- Coated on affected region for pediculosis
- Can be diluted for use in children

- Should not be used on broken or irritated skin

Pregnancy & Lactation
- Inadequate evidence of safety in human pregnancy
- Widely used without apparent ill consequence
- Not recommended during pregnancy
- Breastfeeding should be suspended during treatment
Precautions & Warnings
- Causes little skin irritation
- May cause transient burning sensation
- Irritating to the eyes
- Severe skin reaction may require washing off with soap and warm water
- Eyes should be protected if applied to scalp
