Pharmacology
- Contains Permethrin
- Topical scabicidal agent
- Acts on nerve cell membrane
- Disrupts sodium channel current
- Delayed repolarization & paralysis of pests
Pharmacokinetics
- Metabolized by ester hydrolysis
- Excreted primarily in urine
- Less than 0.5% absorbed in the first 48 hours
Dosage
- Adults and children over 12 years: a full tube
- Children aged 6-12 years: up to 1/2 of a tube
- Children aged 1-5 years: up to 1/4 of a tube
- Children aged 2 months to 1 year: up to 1/8 of a tube
Administration
- Apply to whole body from neck down for adults and children over 2 years
- Ensure all skin surfaces are covered
- Apply to face, neck, ears, and scalp for babies under 2 years
- Leave on for at least 8 hours before washing off
- Reapply to any washed areas during treatment time
Interaction
- Avoid corticosteroid treatment prior to Ermite use
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to pyrethroids or permethrin
Side Effects
- Skin discomfort
- Burning, stinging, or tingling
- Transient signs of irritation
- Erythema, edema, eczema, rash, pruritus
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Use in pregnancy following medical advice
- Avoid use in nursing mothers
Precautions & Warnings
- May exacerbate pruritus, edema, erythema
- Avoid contact with eyes
- Flush with water if cream gets in the eyes
