Indications

Pharmacology
- Contains Permethrin
- Topical scabicidal agent
- Acts on nerve cell membrane
- Disrupts sodium channel current
- Causes delayed repolarization & paralysis of pests
Pharmacokinetics
- Topical route of administration
- Limited systemic exposure
- Presystemic metabolism in skin
- Rapid metabolism by ester hydrolysis
- Excretion in urine
Dosage
- Adults and children over 12 years: full tube
- Children aged 6-12 years: up to 1/2 of a tube
- Children aged 1-5 years: up to 1/4 of a tube
- Children aged 2 months to 1 year: up to 1/8 of a tube
- No established dose for children less than 2 months
Administration
- Skin should be clean, cool, and dry before application
- Apply to whole body for adults and children over 2 years
- For babies under 2 years, apply to face, neck, ears, and scalp
- Leave on for at least 8 hours before washing off
- Reapply as necessary after 7 days
Interaction
- Withhold corticosteroid treatment for eczemodous reactions before using
- May exacerbate scabies infestation by reducing immune response to mite
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to pyrethroids or permethrin
- Nursing staff may wear gloves to avoid irritation
Side Effects
- Skin discomfort (burning, stinging, tingling)
- Transient signs of irritation (erythema, edema, eczema, rash, pruritis)
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Use in pregnancy follows medical advice
- Not recommended for nursing mothers
Precautions & Warnings
- May exacerbate pruritus, edema & erythema
- Avoid contact with eyes during application
- Flush with water if cream gets in eyes
