Indications
- Treatment of scabies
- Treatment of crab lice infestations
- Suitable for the entire family
Pharmacology
- Contains Permethrin, a pyrethroid
- Topical scabicidal agent
- Acts on nerve cell membrane to disrupt sodium channel current
- Causes delayed repolarization & paralysis of pests
Dosage
- Recommended duration of treatment for adults and children
- Different dosage for different age groups
- Dosage not established for children less than 2 months
Administration
- Apply to clean, cool, and dry skin
- Avoid hot shower or bath before application
- Applicable for adults, children over 2 years, and babies under 2 years
- Leave on for at least 8 hours before washing off
- Reapplication if washed during the treatment time
Interaction
- Withholding corticosteroid treatment for eczemodous reactions prior to using Neeper
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to pyrethroids or permethrin
- Nursing staff may wear gloves to avoid possible irritation
Side Effects
- Skin discomfort
- Burning, stinging or tingling
- Transient signs and symptoms of irritation
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Use in pregnancy should follow medical advice
- Not recommended for nursing mothers
Precautions & Warnings
- May exacerbate pruritus, edema & erythema
- Avoid contact with eyes during application
