Elimate Plus 5%+10% (Lotion)

Indications

• Treatment of scabies
• Treatment of pruritus

Pharmacology

• Permethrin is a pyrethroid pediculocide and scabicide
• Causes paralysis and death of pest by inhibiting sodium ion influx
• Crotamiton has scabicidal and antipruritic action

Dosage

• Suitable for adults and children of 2 months of age and above
• Intended for external use only
• Should not be applied to broken skin or near the eyes
• Should be left on for at least 8 hours

Administration

• Lotion should be applied to clean, dry skin
• Needs to be washed off 8-12 hours after treatment
• Cloths and bed sheets should be cleaned with warm water
• Other family members should use the lotion as prevention

Interaction

• Corticosteroids treatment should be withheld prior to treatment with permethrin

Contraindications

• Contra-indicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to permethrin or crotamiton
• Should be kept out of the reach of children
• Nursing staff may wear gloves to avoid possible irritation to the hand
• Avoid contact with the eyes

Side Effects

• Occasional reports of burning or stinging sensation
• Transient signs and symptoms of skin irritation

Pregnancy & Lactation

• Not recommended during pregnancy, especially in the first three months
• Not known whether the active substance passes into breast milk

Precautions & Warnings

• For external use only
• Avoid contact with the eyes
• Should be kept out of the reach of children

Overdose Effects

• Excessive application to the skin might result in local adverse reactions
• In the event of accidental ingestion by a child, gastric lavage should be considered if within 2 hours

Storage Conditions

• Store in a cool place (do not store above 25°C & do not freeze)
