Indications
- Indicated for psoriasis (excluding widespread plaque psoriasis)
- Indicated for recalcitrant dermatoses
- Indicated for lichen planus

Composition
- Clobetasol Propionate Cream contains 0.05% w/w Clobetasol Propionate BP
- Clobetasol Propionate Ointment contains 0.05% w/w Clobetasol Propionate BP
- Clobetasol Propionate Scalp Application contains 0.05% w/w Clobetasol Propionate BP
- Clobetasol Propionate Shampoo contains 0.05% w/w Clobetasol Propionate BP
- Clobetasol Propionate Lotion contains 0.05% w/w Clobetasol Propionate BP
- Clobetasol Propionate Spray contains 0.05% w/w Clobetasol Propionate BP
Pharmacology
- Very potent topical corticosteroid
- Has anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, and vasoconstrictive properties
- Reduces cytokine production and inhibits arachidonic acid metabolism
Dosage
- Adults, elderly, and children over 1 year: Apply a thin layer of cream or ointment twice daily
- Super-high potency topical corticosteroid: Limited to 2 consecutive weeks
- Maximum weekly dose 50 gm/week
- Apply required quantity of spray once or twice daily to the affected scalp areas
Administration
- Route of administration: Cutaneous
- Creams suitable for moist or weeping surfaces
- Ointments suitable for dry, lichenified or scaly lesions
Interaction
- Co-administered drugs that can inhibit CYP3A4 may increase systemic exposure
Contraindications
- Not indicated for rosacea, acne vulgaris, and perioral dermatitis
- Hypersensitivity to the preparation
- Not indicated for primarily infected skin lesions caused by fungi or bacteria
Side Effects
- Prolonged use or treatment of extensive areas may result in systemic absorption
- Prolonged and intensive treatment may cause local atrophic changes in the skin
- Exacerbation of symptoms may occur
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Limited data in pregnant women
- Topical administration to pregnant animals can cause abnormalities of fetal development
- Unknown excretion in human milk
Precautions & Warnings
- Long-term continuous therapy should be avoided, particularly in infants and children
- Caution needed when treating conditions on the face
- Care needed to ensure the preparation does not enter the eye
Use in Special Populations
- Adrenal suppression can occur in infants and children under 12 years of age
- Children are more susceptible to atrophic changes
Overdose Effects
- Chronic over-dosage may lead to hypercortisolism
