Indications
- Treatment of psoriasis

Composition
- Clobetasol Propionate Cream: 0.05% w/w
- Clobetasol Propionate Ointment: 0.05% w/w
- Clobetasol Propionate Scalp Application: 0.05% w/w
- Clobetasol Propionate Shampoo: 0.05% w/w
- Clobetasol Propionate Lotion: 0.05% w/w
- Clobetasol Propionate Spray: 0.05% w/w
Pharmacology
- Very potent topical corticosteroid
- Anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, and vasoconstrictive properties
- Inhibits late phase allergic reactions
- Reduces mast cell density
- Inhibits cytokine production
- Decreases eosinophil activation
Dosage
- Adults and children over 1 year: Apply thin layer twice daily
- Super-high potency corticosteroid; limited to 2 consecutive weeks
- Special dosing for scalp solution and shampoo
- Route of administration: Cutaneous
Administration
- Creams for moist or weeping surfaces
- Ointments for dry, lichenified, or scaly lesions
Interaction
- Inhibition of CYP3A4 metabolism by co-administered drugs
Contraindications
- Not indicated for rosacea, acne vulgaris, and perioral dermatitis
- Hypersensitivity to the preparation
- Not indicated for fungal or bacterial skin lesions
- Not for dermatoses in children under one year of age
Side Effects
- Hypercorticism with prolonged use
- Local atrophic changes with prolonged and intensive treatment
- Potential exacerbation of psoriasis
- Reports of pigmentation changes and hypertrichosis
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Limited data on use in pregnant women
- Potential risk to the fetus
- Caution during nursing
Precautions & Warnings
- Avoid long-term continuous therapy, especially in infants and children
- Atrophic changes on the face after prolonged treatment
- Caution when applying to eyelids
- Hazardous in psoriasis and infection susceptibility
Use in Special Populations
- Caution in infants and children under 12 years of age
Overdose Effects
- Acute overdosage is unlikely to occur
- Features of hypercortisolism with chronic over-dosage
