Indications

Pharmacology
- Clobetasol Propionate: Highly active corticosteroid with topical anti-inflammatory activity
- Neomycin Sulphate: Aminoglycoside antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections
- Nystatin: Antifungal that kills fungi and yeasts by interfering with their cell membranes
Dosage and administration
- Apply sparingly once or twice daily to the affected area
- Adult dose can be enhanced by occluding the treatment area with polythene
- Not recommended for use in neonates and infants under 2 years
Interaction
- Neomycin Sulphate can intensify and prolong the respiratory depressant effects of neuromuscular blocking agents
Contraindications
- Not to be used in rosacea, acne vulgaris, perioral dermatitis, primary cutaneous viral infection, and hypersensitivity to the preparation
Side effects
- Prolonged use can result in systemic absorption and hypercortisolism
- Local atrophic changes in the skin
- Reports of pigmentation changes and hypertrichosis
Pregnancy and lactation
- Neomycin in pregnancy and lactation may pose a theoretical risk of foetal toxicity
- Safety of Clobetasol Propionate not established in lactating mothers
Precautions and warnings
- Long-term continuous topical therapy should be avoided, especially in infants and children
- Avoid application to the eyelids to prevent glaucoma
Overdose effects
- Acute overdosage is very unlikely to occur
- Topical steroids should be discontinued gradually in case of chronic overdosage or misuse
