Indications

Pharmacology
- High topical anti-inflammatory potency
- Low HPA-axis suppressive activity
- Therapeutic index greater than most steroids
- High degree of selectivity for glucocorticoid receptor
- Strong affinity for human glucocorticoid receptors
- Weak affinity for progesterone receptor
- No affinity for mineralocorticoid, estrogen, or androgen receptors
- Half-life of glucocorticoid-receptor complex is approximately 10 hours

- Cream: Apply once daily

Contraindications
- Contraindicated in Rosacea
- Contraindicated in Acne vulgaris
- Contraindicated in Perioral dermatitis
- Contraindicated in Primary cutaneous viral infections
- Contraindicated in Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients
- Contraindicated in Perianal and genital pruritus
- Not indicated in treatment of infected skin lesions caused by fungi or bacteria
- Not indicated for dermatoses in children under one year of age

Pregnancy & Lactation
- Consideration during pregnancy if expected benefit to mother is greater than possible risk to fetus
- Excretion into human breast milk not investigated
- Low plasma levels in patients following dermal application at recommended doses
- Weigh benefits against potential hazards when used in breastfeeding mothers
Precautions & Warnings
- Low propensity for systemic absorption
- Prolonged application of high doses in infants may lead to adrenal suppression
- Children may absorb larger amounts and be more susceptible to systemic toxicity
- Atrophic changes on the face after prolonged treatment
- Use appropriate antimicrobial therapy when treating infected inflammatory lesions
- Withdrawal of corticosteroid therapy in case of spread of infection
- Bacterial infection encouraged by occlusive dressing
- Cleansing of skin before applying fresh dressing
Overdose Effects
- Acute overdosage is unlikely
- Chronic overdosage may lead to hypercorticism
- Discontinue application in case of chronic overdosage or misuse
- Extremely unlikely to occur due to very low oral bioavailability
