Indications
- Primary irritant dermatitis
- Contact allergic dermatitis
- Eczema (atopic, infantile, discoid, stasis)
- Seborrhoeic dermatitis
Pharmacology
- Potent topical antibacterial action of Fusidic Acid
- Anti-inflammatory & anti-pruritic effects of Hydrocortisone Acetate
- Inhibition of protein synthesis in microorganisms by Fusidic Acid
- Reduction of skin response to injury by Hydrocortisone
Dosage & Administration
- Recommended application 3 times daily for 2 weeks for adults
- Shorter course of treatment if symptoms improve
- Not recommended for children under 3 years of age
Interaction
- Potential inhibition of drug metabolism by systemically absorbed Fusidic Acid
- No hazardous drug interactions reported for topical Hydrocortisone Acetate
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Fusidic Acid or Hydrocortisone Acetate
- Contraindicated in bacterial infections due to non-susceptible organisms
- Contraindicated in fungal or viral skin infections
Side Effects
- Mild irritation at the application site
- Rare hypersensitivity reactions
- Local adverse effects such as dryness, itching, burning, and irritation
- Potential skin atrophy, telangiectasia, hypertrichosis
