Indications
- Primary irritant dermatitis
- Contact allergic dermatitis
- Eczema (atopic, infantile, discoid, stasis)
- Seborrhoeic dermatitis
Pharmacology
- Potent topical antibacterial action of Fusidic Acid
- Anti-inflammatory effects of Hydrocortisone Acetate
- Effective against Staphylococci, Streptococci, Corynebacteria
- Inhibitor of protein synthesis in the microorganism
Dosage and administration
- Adults: apply 3 times daily for 2 weeks
- Shorter course if symptoms improve
- Not recommended in children under 3 years of age
Interaction
- Fusidic Acid may inhibit the metabolism of drugs
- No hazardous drug interactions reported with topical Hydrocortisone Acetate
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Fusidic Acid or Hydrocortisone Acetate
- Contraindicated in bacterial infections due to non-susceptible organisms
- Contraindicated in fungal infections, tuberculosis of the skin, syphilitic skin infections
Side effects
- Mild irritation at the application site
- Reports of hypersensitivity reactions are rare
- Adverse effects include dryness, itching, burning, local irritation, striae, skin atrophy
Pregnancy and lactation
- Safety during pregnancy or lactation not established
- Potential benefits should be weighed against risks
Precautions and warnings
- Avoid use in or near the eye
- Sufficient absorption may lead to adrenal suppression and other systemic effects
Use in special populations
- No increased incidence of adverse effects in children 3 years and over
- No safety and efficacy data in children under 3 years of age
